Black Athletes: Sports Stories for Kids

Every great athlete was once a child who practised when nobody was watching. These bedtime stories follow footballers, runners, boxers, basketball and tennis players from Africa, the Caribbean, the Americas and Europe, from the first barefoot race to the day the whole world cheered.

They are written for ages 4 to 8 and take about two minutes to read aloud, with free narration, a quiz and three questions for parents. The lessons are the ones you want your child to keep: practice, respect, bouncing back from a loss, and using success to help others.
