Patrice Lumumba, The Voice of Congo

Listen to this story

Once upon a time, in the heart of Africa, there was a vast and beautiful country called Congo. In this country lived a very smart man named Patrice Lumumba. Patrice loved reading books and writing poetry. He looked around and saw that the rich resources of his country were being taken away, and his people were not being treated fairly. He knew that the people of Congo were smart and capable of running their own country.

Patrice used his words like magic. He gave powerful speeches that made people feel proud of who they were. He traveled everywhere, telling people that they should all work together, no matter what part of the country they were from. Because of his inspiring words, Congo finally became an independent country, and Patrice became its first Prime Minister. Even though his time as a leader was short, his brave words are still remembered today. Patrice Lumumba teaches us that our words have power, and we should use them to stand up for ourselves and our friends.
