Anton Wilhelm Amo was born in the present-day country of Ghana. When he was just a little boy, he was brought to Europe and given to a duke in Germany. The duke's family noticed how incredibly smart Anton was and made sure he went to school. Anton loved learning! He learned to speak and write in many languages, including Latin, Greek, and French. He went to university and studied philosophy, a subject where you think deeply about life, the mind, and how the world works. Anton was so brilliant that he became a highly respected professor at universities in Germany, teaching European students and writing famous books. He proved that no matter where you come from, a curious mind can shine brightly and teach the world.
