Sir Arthur Lewis: The Master of Numbers

In the sunny island nation of St. Lucia, lived a boy named Arthur Lewis. Arthur was incredibly smart and loved playing with numbers and solving complicated puzzles. Even though his family didn't have much money, Arthur studied very hard and won a scholarship to study in England. He decided he wanted to understand how money, jobs, and businesses worked. This is called economics.

Arthur noticed that while some countries were very rich, many others were very poor. He wanted to change that! He worked tirelessly to figure out the secret recipes for how poor countries could build strong factories, create good jobs, and provide better lives for their citizens. Because his ideas were so brilliant and helpful, he became the very first Black person to win the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Sir Arthur Lewis showed the world that with hard work and a clever mind, you can solve the biggest puzzles to help millions of people.
