Joseph Bologne, known as Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges, was born on the island of Guadeloupe. He traveled to France as a young boy and quickly showed the world his incredible talents. Joseph was a champion fencer, meaning he was the absolute best at sword fighting in all of Paris! But his talents didn't stop there. He was also a magical musician. He played the violin so beautifully and composed classical music that people sometimes called him the 'Black Mozart.' He even conducted the greatest orchestra in Paris! Later, during the French Revolution, he bravely commanded his own legion of soldiers. Joseph showed that you can be a hero with both a sword and a violin.
