The Talking Gourd:
Once upon a time, in the sun-kissed savannas of the Manga region, lived a cunning hare named Soamba. Renowned for his sharp wit and trickery, Soamba relished playing pranks on his friends. One day, he approached his friend Lâbo, the nightjar, with an irresistible proposition.
The Journey's Beginning: \"Soamba, why don't we visit my father-in-law together?\" Soamba proposed with a mischievous grin. Lâbo, wary of Soamba's reputation, agreed after securing a promise: \"Ensure you won't use trickery on me.\"
Their journey was filled with laughter and camaraderie, and soon they arrived at Soamba's in-laws' home. They were greeted warmly, and a grand feast awaited them.
The Feast's Twist: On the first morning, Lâbo pretended to go hunting but secretly perched himself on the highest liana circle of the hut, suspecting a trick from Soamba. Seizing the opportunity, Soamba told his mother-in-law: \"Prepare me a fine rice dish, for this gluttonous nightjar devoured my share during the night.\" As soon as the delicious meal was served, Lâbo swooped down, forcing Soamba to share.
The next day, the same charade repeated itself. On the third day, Soamba had a new plan. He requested beans, filled his bag for his children, and left nothing for Lâbo. When Lâbo returned, Soamba nonchalantly said, \"Friend, it's time we head home.\"
Lâbo's Revenge: Lâbo, his heart filled with resentment, waited for the perfect moment to seek revenge. As they walked through dense thickets, Lâbo deftly slipped into Soamba's bag, emptied the beans, and replaced them with waste. Satisfied with his work, he thought, \"He who laughs last laughs best!\"
Finally arriving home, Soamba joyfully called out to his children, \"Come, my children! I shall regale you with the provisions from my bag.\" But horror struck when he opened the bag and found waste instead of beans. Soamba, dejected, understood Lâbo's trickery and resigned himself to defeat. Lâbo, like a good friend, chuckled softly and assured Soamba that there was no hard feelings.
The Lesson Learned: From that day forward, Soamba learned the importance of loyalty and sincerity. The two friends, despite their differences, continued to visit each other, this time without trickery or deception. They embarked on even grander and more amusing adventures, appreciating the value of honest and respectful friendship.
And so, in the savannas of the Manga region, Soamba and Lâbo became exemplars of friendship and wisdom, proving that true intelligence lies in respect and mutual support.
